Douglas Marvin Ray, Jr., 68, of Fredericksburg died Monday, July 30, 2012 at home.
Mr. Ray was a U.S. Marine veteran having served during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy H. Ray; two sons, Douglas Marvin Ray III and his wife, Melea and Darrell MacKenzie Ray; mother, Carrie Ray; brother, James Norris Ray; sister, Nina Ray Scott; and grandson, Douglas Marvin Ray IV.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, August 5 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at 9am Monday, August 6 at Quantico National Cemetery.
Peggy I am so sorry for your loss and your family’s loss. I will always remember your husband as soft spoken gentleman who always had a smile on his face. I know that he had been ill for sometime and now he is at peace. May you and your family remember the good times you all have had. R.I.P. Doug

I will miss his warm smile. He was clearly surrounded by tremendous, unwavering love–the fruit of the seed that he planted, nurtured, and reaped bountifully from. I am deeply grateful for Mr. Ray’s service to our country. He is what makes America a glorious nation. It is a distinct honor to have known him.
