Gerald Lee Schnurr, 83, of Caroline County, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Schnurr had retired from the US Army and later the US Postal Service. He was a Chosin Reservoir survivor and a bronze star recipient. Mr. Schnurr enjoyed watching TV and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children Ronald Lee Schnurr, Anita Gallahan and husband Michael, Vernon Schnurr and Linda Burkholder and husband Stephen; sister Theda Grimes; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10am Thursday, October 11 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
