Jean Hinkle

Jean S. Hinkle, 94, of King George, formerly of Laguna Hills, Calif., died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at Woodmont Center.She was born June 25, 1920. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Col. James R. Hinkle Sr.; her parents, Charles and Fannie Sankot; and two sisters.Survivors include her son, Dr. Jim R. Hinkle II, and his wife, Randi, of Alameda, Calif.; her daughter, Linda Petersen, and her husband, Greg; and three grandchildren, Kristin Ash, and her husband, Rob, of King George, James R. Hinkle III, and Jo Hinkle.Jean was valedictorian of her high school class, graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in home economics, and earned a degree in occupational therapy from University of Southern California, having studied with Dr. Jean Ayers, Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). She retired as an OTR with the Arlington Va. school system in 1983. Jean was known for her sense of humor, her focus on good nutrition and her wisdom in taking care of family.Her ashes will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband at a later date.
