John Piatt

John Piatt, 50, of Smith Mountain Lake, formerly of Stafford County, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.John was employed at Columbia Gas of Virginia. His career began 20 years ago as an operations technician in Vint Hill before he moved to Lynchburg in 2012 to work as a construction specialist. His passion was his family and living the lake life. He was a friend to all and gave freely of his love and talents.Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Clore Piatt of Smith Mountain Lake; daughter, Jordan Piatt of Dale City; stepson, Ryan Hord of Spotsylvania; parents, Earl and Frances Piatt of Burgess; brother, Edward Piatt (Sharon) of Summerduck; father and mother-in-law, Francis and Frances Clore of Fredericksburg; and his buddy, Diesel.A memorial service will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Chancellor Baptist Church, 11324 Gordon Road Fredericksburg, VA. A reception for family and friends will be held at the church following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
