Mary Marguerite Vereen, 91, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at her home.Mrs. Vereen was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She had retired from the Department of the Navy. Marguerite deeply loved her family, and her greatest pleasure was in taking care of them, spending time with them, and doing things for them. She was the widow of Frank Lee Vereen.She is survived by her children; Deborah M. Vereen, Thomas L. Vereen, Rachel Hayes, Pauline Dickerson and Richard Shorey; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Tidewater Drive Chapel in Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
