Marie Akers Mitchell, 84, of Fredericksburg died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Mitchell worked for Fairfax County Public Schools for many years. She was amember of Fredericksburg Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mitchell was the widow of the late Howard G. Mitchell who died in 2005.

Survivors include her son, Greg Mitchell of Fredericksburg; grandson, Gregory Mitchell of Fredericksburg; brother, Charlie G. Akers, Jr. of Galax; sister, Margie Dean Mitchell of Bel Air, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 30 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel.
