Spencer Hockaday

Spencer Lynn Hockaday, 17, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011.

Spencer was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a member of the Fellowship Christian Athletes. He was a captain of the Spotsylvania County High School Varsity baseball team, played basketball and was a baseball umpire for Spotsylvania County Parks and Recreation. He was involved in a mentoring program and worked at American Family Fitness.

Survivors include his parents, Amos and Tracie Hockaday; his brother, Mitchell Hockaday; his sister, Cassie Hockaday; his paternal grandparents, Louis and Beverly Hockaday; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Gail Massey and Linda and Michael Brown; his great grandmother, Catherine Massey; his aunts and uncles, Vernon and Connie Hockaday, John and Donna Hockaday, Shawn and Dana Hockaday, Tiffanie and Lou Schriver, Mark Evans, DeAnna Massey, Edward Massey II and Jerry Bounds; several great aunts, great uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an aunt Paula Massey Bounds.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8pm Monday, March 14, 2011 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 10am Tuesday, March 15 at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Sandy Martin officiating. Burial will be private.
