On September 26, 1940, Thelma Ann Blanton was born to Bertha Hatcher in Augusta, Georgia. Thelma at the age of 72 passed this life Monday, July 29, 2013 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Thelma Blanton was married to Army Sergeant First Class Edward H. L. Blanton of Portland, Maine March 16, 1962. Thelma Blanton was a committed military wife who earned grateful appreciation for her unselfish, faithful, and devoted service to her husband's military career. Her unfailing support and understanding helped to make possible her husband's lasting contribution to the Nation.Thelma Blanton was an active member of Potomac Valley Church of Christ. There, she was baptized in water, sealed by the Spirit, and cleansed by the blood of Christ our King on September 25, 2011. Thelma Ann Blanton was a devout "Believer" and she loved the Lord.Thelma, with infinite patience, and together with her devoted husband raised five children. She set healthy boundaries, encouraged personal responsibility, and taught each of her children the importance of self-sufficiency. Today, each of Thelma's children are responsible productive adults. Thelma Blanton was a wonderful mother!Her interest included spending quality time with family, attending Sunday morning service, exploring vacation destinations, shopping, and following politics/current events. Thelma enjoyed nice surroundings and an intricately decorated home. She particularly enjoyed a beautiful day and having lunch with friends. She possessed a remarkable ability to put herself in other's shoes and see things through another person's point of view. Thelma always wanted to make things right in life for others. She strived for balance and harmony in her life, her surroundings, and in the lives of people close to her. Thelma had a captivating charm, elegant taste, and an easy going nature. She had an amazing ability to be a good listener, sooth and calm people, and she was an excellent friend to those who knew her. Thelma was a very intelligent woman. She expressed her intelligence through creativity, in a wide range of artistic pursuits and hobbies. Thelma embraced change, she loved variety, and adapted easily to complex situations. She lived a life of Love, Joy, Peace, Happiness, Wholeness, and Fulfillment.She was preceded in death by her mother: Bertha Hatcher; and her husband Edward H. L. Blanton.She leaves to cherish her memories a loving devoted sister, Evelyn Wahington of Jackson, MS; two sons, Ronnie Blanton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Mark E. Blanton of Stafford, VA; three daughters, Cynthia Gray and Michelle Knolton both of Stafford,VA and Victoria Lee Bryant of Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren, Adrian Blanton, Felicia Gibbs, Whitney Gray, Quinton Gray, Brandy Nalls, Megan Nalls, Sonya Knolton, Onya Knolton, Myles Miller, and Savanna Blanton; four great-grandchildren, Shaun Blanton and Tyson Blanton, Bryce Gibbs and Lauren Gibbs; one niece, Katina Washington; one nephew, Dana Washington; her mother-in-law, Esther Blanton Haynes of Portland, ME; two sisters-in-law, Stella Dalrymple and Helen Travis; and four brothers-in-law, Arie Washington, William Haynes, Frederick Haynes, Richard Haynes, and Ronald Haynes.
