Mable Lucille Tate Thacker

Mable Lucille Tate Thacker, 95, of Spotsylvania County passed away on March 22, 2024 at her home after a four-year struggle with dementia. Mrs. Thacker was born in Irvington, Virginia to the late Alpha Lnora Palmer Tate and Elbert “Mike” Lewis Tate.

Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Raymond D. Thacker; her daughter, Barbara L. Thacker; her parents; two brothers, Lewis R. Tate and Roy F. Tate; and one sister, Pearl T. Jacobs.

Mrs. Thacker is survived by one daughter, Diane Thacker Heflin and her husband, Maurice; one grandson Kirk M. Heflin and his wife, Autumn; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah K. Heflin and Elizabeth C. Heflin, all of Spotsylvania. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Thacker was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and was retired from Mary Washington College and the FMC Corporation.

The family wishes to thank Mable’s caregivers: Ana, Gloria, and Stella for their help and support, along with Mary Washington Hospice.

A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Pastor Ted Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
