Susan E. Gaber

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Susan “Sue” E. Gaber, 76, was surrounded by family as she went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Sue had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up the room. She was the support and glue that held the family together while her Coastie husband served his country. Sue was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, but settled in Fredericksburg after her husband retired. She worked various jobs in Fredericksburg, but ultimately found her calling working at the Massad YMCA supporting her community for over 15 years. After she retired, she enjoyed going on adventures with her husband traveling across the U.S.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Scott E. Gaber; daughters Paula Myers and Sheryl Gaber of Fredericksburg, VA; only son, Robert Gaber of Laguna Beach, CA; and grandchildren Kassander Thompson, Dillan Smalley, Hannah Brooks, and Sophia Brooks.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery.

Sue will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association so they may find a cure for this sad disease.
