Adele Marzec, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 6, 2022. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Stanley and Agatha Wozniczki, the sixth of seven children. She grew up during and after the Great Depression. After finishing high school, she went to work as an office assistant for a real estate company in Chicago.
After World War II, she married Frank Marzec Jr. in July 1949. They lived in Chicago, South Bend, Indiana, Boston and then moved to Annandale, Virginia (Metro DC area) in 1959. She lived there until she moved to an Assisted Living Community in Fredericksburg, VA in 2015.
She was a parishioner at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Annandale for 55 years and was active in their Ladies Club. She enjoyed bowling, first in a couple’s league with Frank, then after his passing, a Tuesday Morning Ladies League. She also enjoyed day trips and the ladies exercise group at the Annandale United Methodist Church for many years.
Adele was the last of her siblings to pass. Adele was predeceased by her husband, Frank Jr.; youngest son Frank III; daughter Laura; and granddaughter Michelle. She is survived by sons Philip (Kathy) and Robert (Valerie) of Fredericksburg, Michael (Christine) of Melbourne, FL, and Paul (Laurie Vaughan) of Ruther Glen. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on January 24, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. Interment to follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, VA, where she will be laid to rest next to Frank along with Laura.
