Barbara James

Barbara James, loving wife, and mother, of Spotsylvania County passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at her home.

Barbara spent her life as a homemaker and a bookkeeper for family business. She enjoyed country music and dancing. She especially liked Jeff Gordon and Elvis Presley. Barbara lived in Alexandria and Lake Anna, where she would enjoy fishing and spending time out on the lake boating with her grandchildren. She loved supporting her grandchildren by watching baseball and attending their sports games. Barbara found great joy in being a NANA.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford James; daughters Peggy Kelley, Patricia Hall, and Mary Katherine Critzer; son Michael Critzer; step-son Cliff James; grandchildren Jacob Conn, Joshua Kelley, Tyler Vanover, and Robert Kelley; goddaughter Lisa Marie Anderson; brother Dallas Williams; sister Brenda Tussing; and sister-in-law Marian Kubella. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Cross; sisters Debbie Fries and Shirley Tussing; and brother James Tussing.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S Kings Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306.
