Barrie Bliss Locke

Barrie Bliss Locke, 93, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Born on August 23, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, Barrie was the only son of Gordon C. and Ione Bliss Locke. After his mother’s death, his father married Marguerite Pappano in 1933, who raised Barrie as if he was her own. In 1977, Barrie married Miriam Glover in Washington D.C. That was the beginning of the rest of his life… filled with love and adventure.

Barrie graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953 and served in the Navy for 27 years. He retired in 1978 as a Commander. He and his wife, Miriam, created a business together raising a rare breed of longhair cats, Rag Dolls, who got their name from the way they grow limp when being held. He and his wife led an active life, meeting new people and making friends wherever they traveled. Barrie will be remembered for his endless good deeds and kind heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Glover Locke. 

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Quantico National Cemetery.
