Benjamin Olufeme Theophelus Jarrett, 75, of Fredericksburg, passed away at Vibra Hospital in Richmond on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Benjamin was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa on December 31,1943. He graduated from Prince of Wales Secondary School and worked at Post & Telecommunications department for a brief time. Benjamin went to Bolton College in England, then to Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland where he met his wife, May. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Benjamin worked as the chief airport engineer for several years in Lungi, Sierra Leone. He came to Richmond in 1982.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, May; three sons Ben, Melvin, and Louis; seven grandchildren; one sister Matilda; and three brothers Gilbert, Edwin, and Captain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Peace United Methodist Church.
