Our family is saddened to share the passing of our Mom, Meemaw, sister and friend, Betty “Jean” Villhauer-Craig, age 85, of Fredericksburg, Virginia on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Jean was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana and was the oldest of nine children. She was fortunate enough to have found love twice. First with her husband Kurt for more than 32 years, then with her second husband Harold Thomas “Tom” Craig, Jr., for almost 22 years.
Jean loved life, God, her family and friends. She found enjoyment on her farm raising a variety of animals from goats, chickens, cows, horses and more. It was nothing for her to come back from a fair with a new baby to care for. She and Tom took great pride in raising and showing purebred dairy goats traveling all over. Jean was most excited when two of her foes won Grand Champion. She also loved to take care of her small garden and flowers.
Jean had enjoyed the last couple years relaxing, babysitting and crocheting at home in the Falls Run Retirement Community which she loved.
She is survived by her daughters Laurie Reiss (Stefan) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Susan Villhauer of Fredericksburg, Virginia and adopted daughter Alyssa Llaka (Ben) of , New York, stepchildren, Dennis Craig (Margaret), Peter Craig (Terry), Timothy Craig (Beth), Christopher Craig, Joyce Chewning, all of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Charles Craig of St. Stephens Church, Virginia, a brother Kurt Prince (Sandy) of New Albany, Indiana, two sister-in-laws Jackie Prince of Johnson City, Tennessee and Cathy Prince of Jeffersonville, Indiana. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a special girl June Howard of Fredericksburg, Virginia and her beloved dog Juliet.
Pallbearers will be Brad Streithof, Jacob Miller, Tayquan Reiss, Matthew Chewning, Davey Craig and Jimmy Dolan.
