Beverly Gayle Grimes Hibner, 79, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022. Gayle was born September 19, 1942, in Huntington, WV, daughter to the late Glenn MacPherson and Eloise Bryan Grimes.
Gayle lived in Las Vegas when she was first married before coming back east to northern Virginia. She eventually settled in Fredericksburg where she resided for the past 50 years. She was a secretary at Gayle Middle School for 30 years. She enjoyed her job and getting to know the kids and families over the years.
Gayle was known for her infectious smile and laugh; she delighted in serving the community and volunteering at church and being part of the WMU. She was a fabulous cook and baker, and she loved feeding her family and friends. She enjoyed watching her “shows,” football and college basketball. There was also nothing more she loved than going to the beach with her family. Gayle always enjoyed a good road trip, especially when shopping was involved. She loved her grandchildren and was so proud of them all.
She is survived by her husband, Linden Dale Hibner; daughters Stephanie Hibner (Michael Vrhel) of Sammamish, WA, and Staci Noakes (Trever) of Fredericksburg; grandchildren Ethan and Alden Vrhel, and Cullen and Linden Noakes; sisters Joyce Curry (Robert) and Patricia Dobbins; nieces and nephews Kimberly Bracken, Kristie Morgan, Kelli Galloway, Jay Hibner (Stacey) and Jamie Boyd (Mark); and many other great nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 30 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31 at Ferry Farm Baptist Church. A reception will follow the service. A private interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family invites those attending to wear something blue, Gayle’s favorite color, to celebrate her life.
