Carl Walter Anderson

Carl Walter Anderson, 61, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Woodmont Center due to various complications over the years beginning with a stroke in 2007. 

Carl was born and lived in Fredericksburg, then moved to Spotsylvania.  He graduated from James Monroe High School and worked at Janney-Marshall Co., Inc.  He enjoyed playing high school football, golfing, hunting, his pet dogs, fishing, herring dipping (when it was legal) in the Rappahannock River and hanging out with his friends.  He was a natural mechanic/repairer of cars/trucks and handyman/fixing things, and self-taught builder of his two-level addition of a great room with garage below onto his house.  Carl was usually late for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals (family started without him).  Carl was an active member of the BPO Elks Lodge #875, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4123, the ABACA Grotto, the Masonic Lodge #4, Knights of Pythias Fredericksburg Lodge #22, and the Fredericksburg Country Club. 

Survivors include his mother, Nancy Russler of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Susan Anderson of Alexandria, VA; brother, Donald Anderson of Stafford, VA; one niece, nephews and great-nephews of Virginia; cousins of Virginia, Georgia and Singapore; and step-brothers and step-sisters of Alabama, Texas and Georgia.  He was preceded in death by his father, Walter “Andy” Edmund Anderson of Fredericksburg, VA, retired to Fort Myers, FL and then of Alexandria, VA; step-father, Jacob “Jac” Charles Russler, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA; and friend, John “Johnny” Edward Norfleet, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA. 

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg, VA, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carl’s life.
