Carl Stansbury Pates, Jr.

Carl Stansbury Pates, Jr., 76, of Spotsylvania County went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021.

Carl leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including three sons, Carl “Trey” Pates, III (JoEll), Michael Pates (Lynn), and Jeff Pates (Lisa); eight grandchildren Trent Pates (Alissa), Brendt, Jordan, Riley, Michael, Jarred, Jeffrey, and Sarah; three great-grandchildren Carter, Luke, and Lincoln; and three siblings Pat Ramachandran, Richard Pates, and Carolyn Mathur.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Stansbury Pates, Sr. and Louise Pates; and his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Pates.

Carl was born and raised in Spotsylvania and his life revolved around family, friends, hunting and fishing.  He had a great sense of humor and always had a quick joke or a funny face and expression.  Carl loved the simple things in life like walking in the woods with his dogs and spending time with friends and family.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. The family asks that you continue to support research and support services for Alzheimer’s.
