Carolyn Spicer Heckman, 80, of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
Carolyn will be remembered by many friends in the Downtown Fredericksburg area for her passion and extensive knowledge of antiques and jewelry. She was the proud owner and operator of Upstairs Downstairs Antiques on Caroline Street for over 25 years. Prior to retiring in 2014, she could be found most days working with “Sadie”, her faithful canine sidekick. Carolyn and her late husband, Chuck, were very active downtown residents and they loved frequenting and supporting other local area businesses.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Spicer Adams of Atlanta, GA; nephew William S. Adams of Seattle, WA; niece Ashley Daltan Vavasour of Austin, TX; nephew Michael T. Daltan of Fredericksburg; a step-daughter Christa Heckman Hudson of Fredericksburg; granddaughter Schuyler A. Hudson of Fredericksburg; and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.E. Spicer and Dorothy C. Spicer of Mineral; sister Martha Spicer Daltan of Fredericksburg and husband, Charles R. “Chuck” Heckman of Fredericksburg.
A visitation for family and friends will take place from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, 4801 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Fredericksburg VA 22408.
