Charles Alleyne Clark

Charles Alleyne Clark, 83, of Woodbridge went to be with God on the afternoon of Thursday, December 6, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.

Mr. Clark was born on September 3, 1935 in Alexandria to Charles H. and Evelyn Clark. He remained a lifelong resident of Northern Virginia and graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria in 1955. Charles went on to attend Georgia Institute of Technology University earning a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering in 1960. In 1976, Charles earned a Master's degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University.

Upon graduation from Georgia Tech., Mr. Clark started working for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) in 1960 as a Project Engineer in the Acoustics division. Mr. Clark's role focused on submarine sonar systems and eventually he retired from NAVSEA in 1995 after 35 years of distinguished service.

After his retirement, Mr. Clark parlayed his love of American history and sightseeing into a job as a professional tour guide from 1996 to 2009. He also taught English as a second language at Northern Virginia Community College from 2010 to 2013.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Maria Teresa Clark, whom he married on March 19, 1976 and enjoyed 42 years of blessed matrimony; sons Alfredo C. Guzman and George G. Guzman, both of Northern Virginia; grandchildren Celina, Nubia, Elisa, Eric, Jack, Sam and Jeremy; and sister Linda Bonner (William) of Brooksville, Florida.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 14 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Charles will always be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, his love of history and mostly for his tremendous love of his family. We will miss you so much and hope to see you in our next life.
