Charles Stuart Carroll, 76, of Partlow passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at his home with his wife, Dianna Lacy-Carroll, by his side. He was born in Albemarle County on August 28, 1945 and his family later moved to Spotsylvania County.

Charles enlisted in the Army in 1964 and served in Vietnam for two years and one year in Germany. He earned his rank of Sergeant and was a sharp shooter and supervised the motor pool.

Charles lost his battle with Agent Orange. He owned and operated Carroll’s Trucking Co. and Carroll’s Auto Service until retirement because of Agent Orange.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dianna Lacy Carroll; son Christopher Carroll; daughter Sarah-Anne Perry (Kirk); granddaughter Emily Perry; grandsons Alexander and Charles “Nathan” Carroll and Tony Perry, all of Spotsylvania; sisters Barbara Seay and Paula Smallwood (Jimmie) of Spotsylvania; and brother Meredith Carroll of Culpeper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert K. and Laura J. Carroll; and brothers George (Peter) and Kenneth Carroll.

All services will be private due to COVID in order to keep all friends and family safe. A celebration of life will be held in April for his family and friends.

Charles was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
