Chris Hylton

October 3, 1954 ~ January 6, 2021 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Tribute

Chris Hylton, 66, of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at home with his family by his side.

Chris was a teacher at Stafford High School for 35 years and managed to make Government class fun and engaging for his students. He was also the tennis coach and you could always find him wearing his favorite blue and gold beanie as he cheered on his team.

He was a faithful member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church for almost 40 years, he taught Sunday School, was a deacon, and loved to volunteer to better his church and community. Chris loved the Lord and anyone who knew him could see his light shine. He also loved jokes and will be remembered for his sense of humor and laughter.

Chris also enjoyed volunteering at Lee’s Hill Golf Course and playing golf with his friends during his retirement years.

Chris loved his family more than anything. Gail, his loving wife of almost 40 years, was his best friend. Other survivors include his children, Shanna (Gabe) and Josh (Erin); grandchildren Claire and Clark; and sister Judy Lawhorne.

A livestream service will be available on Fredericksburg Baptist Church’s website at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Neuroendocrine Cancer Research (www.netrf.org), the Naaman Fund, or the Thursday Ministry Meal at Fredericksburg Baptist Church.
