Christine Juanita Douglas

December 7, 1937 ~ July 30, 2022 (age 84)

Christine Juanita Douglas, 85, of Locust Grove, Virginia was born on December 7, 1937 in Anthras, TN.  On Saturday, July 30, 2022, she passed away and entered the Presence of her Savior.  Her family grieves her passing here, but rejoice that she is with her Lord and no longer suffers the pain and other physical difficulties she faced in recent months.

The twelfth of 13 children born to James Allen Perciful and Cassie Hutcheson in the coal mining hills of northeast Tennessee. Christine was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers. She was also preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Deborah Elaine Douglas (21) in January, 1985. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hazel Raymond Douglas (89); her daughter, Cassie Frances Douglas Whiting; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Christine was a Christian who early in her adult life was shown from the Bible about Jesus’ gift of salvation from sin and restoration to God. She believed that message and accepted Christ as her Savior. Her husband and children also put their faith in Jesus at that time and the family began attending Dayton Baptist Temple in Dayton, Ohio, eventually serving in the church bus ministry, Sunday School and a variety of ministries.  After Hazel’s retirement from General Motors in Dayton, the Douglas’s lived for several years in Vero Beach, FL later moving to Lake of the Woods near Fredericksburg, VA in 2002 to be close to Cassie and her family.

It was Christine’s desire to be buried beside her daughter Debbie at Glen Haven cemetery in New Carlisle, Ohio. It was her wish that there not be a viewing or a funeral service locally.
