Christopher Shawn Gower

Christopher Shawn Gower, 44, of Fredericksburg passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 15, 2019. 

Chris was a beloved and devoted son, brother and friend. At the age of 15, he started to follow his true passion as a firefighter at Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department, and ultimately became Chief of the department.  His whole heart was always with the FVFD and his brothers.  He also was a paid firefighter at Ft. Belvoir Fire Department.  In recent years, he worked in construction.  Whenever you were around Chris, you could always count on a good laugh; his sense of humor was endless. 

Chris leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Alana Gower; sister Amy Gower; uncle Jim and aunt Norma Golden; aunt Judy Clark; aunt Virginia Monk; niece Haley Wilson; nephew Brayden Merritt; many cousins; fire department family; friends; and his four-legged friend, Kobe.  He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Robert Gower; maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. 

A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.  Interment will be private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center or the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department.
