Daniel Hooks, 63, of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 at the home of his parents-in-law, Vernon and Jean Fratzke.
Dan grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia and resided there for many years. He moved to North Carolina where he met his future wife, and together they moved to Virginia to build their family. He was an accountant for over 30 years, a life-long member of the Lutheran church, and above all, a loving husband and father who was most proud of his children. He was a true Southern gentleman, in the best possible way. He loved sweet tea and college football, especially his Georgia Bulldogs. He was kind and thoughtful, warm and funny. Dan approached life with optimism; he believed that everyone was his friend, everyone was doing their best, and that everyone wanted the best for others. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Kristine; children, Joseph and Katherine; brother Timothy Hooks (Tina); numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Evelyn Hooks.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 11 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, September 12 at Christ Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg. A private graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
