David Wright Hamilton

David Wright Hamilton, 93, of Falmouth, VA passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at home.

David was retired from 30 years of service with the Federal Government. He was a communication specialist, having started his career with the telephone company. Prior he served in the Army. He was a member of the National Guard and a marksman. He was a longtime member of Berea Baptist Church, where he served on many boards. He donated blood regularly to the Red Cross. David was a very talented individual. Carpenter, mechanic, electrician-there was nothing he wouldn’t tackle. He built his own house, maintained his own vehicles and even was experienced at making his own bolts and tools should the need arise. If he didn’t know how, he took a class or read a book on the subject. And he was always ready to lend a hand.

But most of all, he was a devoted husband and caregiver, and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Pearson Hamilton; daughters Lisa Rietdorf (Jud) and Jan Pearce (David); grandchildren Frederic Wiggins (Amber), Gates Alverson (Andrew), Paytes Pearce and Caroline Pearce; great-grandchildren Brendan Wiggins and Cora, Rhys and Ada Alverson.

He was preceded in death by his father Ralph M. Hamilton and his mother Mary Jane Wright Hamilton.

A service will be held at at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Berea Baptist Church, 28 Fleet Rd., Fredericksburg, VA 22406. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Memorial donations can be made to Berea Baptist Church or the American Red Cross.

David’s motto in life was, “don’t worry - be happy” and that is what he would want for all of us.
