David A. Vaughn, age 76, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Mary Washington Hospital.
David was born in Eagle Rock, Va. to James M. and Mary D. Vaughn. He had five brothers and sisters. James M. Jr. (Rita), John A., Priscilla D., Eugene T. “George” (Jan), and Rosemary League (David). David worked for the Marine Corps Systems Command as Director of the Amphibious Warfare Technology Directorate; retiring in 1999. He was very active in his church and community. David was a member of the RACSB Board of Directors for 11 years and President of the Rappahannock Chapter of NAMI for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Vaughn; daughter Allison Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his son Neil Edward, his parents, and his brothers, James and John.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Eastland United Methodist Church, 10718 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg. A second visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 at Nicely Funeral Home, 405 Alleghany St., Clifton Forge. A graveside service will be on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 a.m. in the Eagle Rock Methodist Cemetery.
