Deanne Denise Powers departed this life on February 12, 2021 in Fredericksburg, VA.
She was born in Alexandria, VA on October 4, 1974 to Katherine Jackson.
Deanne attended Potomac High School where she was the star basketball player and would always reminisce about her playing basketball. Deanne worked at Coming from 2014 until the time she passed and loved her job and her coworkers, and they loved and respected her as well.
She lived like to the fullest and family was her everything. She had such a beautiful smile that would brighten up 20 rooms and a heart to match. She loved all kinds of music, whether it be rock, oldies, or country, but GO-GO music was her favorite. She would always say that she hears music all the time and that music helped calm her and take her mind off of stress.
Deanne loved people. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she would brighten up whenever she saw them. Deanne wore her heart on her sleeve and the devotion and love that she had for her family would always show.
When it came to children, she always had a special bond with them. They loved her and respected her so much. They would talk to and confide in her about any and everything and tell her things that they would not tell anyone else. Whenever they saw her, they would run up to her and give her the biggest hug which always gave her the biggest smile.
We have truly lost a precious gem, a one of a kind and beautiful soul. Our lives have been blessed to have known her but it will be forever changed now that she is gone. She was loved by so many and everyone that she knew even if they met her one time love her. She left her mark on people.
Deanne was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Jack Robertson “who gave her the name Neomi”, her step-daughter Natasha Boone, and brother-in-law Callie Green. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Tyra Powers of Fredericksburg, VA; son Julius Powers of Fredericksburg, VA; two grandchildren Gia Powers and Julius Powers, Jr.; one grandmother, Betty A. Powers, known as BAPR of Woodbridge, VA; mother Katherine Jackson of Woodbridge, VA; and her sisters Erica Powers and Felicia Green of Woodbridge, VA; one great-aunt, Shirley Carpenter of Leesburg, VA; three aunts, Mary Perkins (Ralph) of Woodbridge, VA, Vanessa “Nessy” Powers of Woodbridge, VA, and Melinda Powers of Woodbridge, VA; one uncle, Sherman Powers (Beverly) of Stafford, VA; two special cousins Mary Mitchell of Maryland and Shirley Wiley Brooks of West Virginia along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She also leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted partner Michelle Boone of Fredericksburg, VA, and her children Jasmine Bailey, Antwann Boone of Fredericksburg, VA and Devon Boone of Stafford, VA; as well as 16 grandchildren.
A very special cousin, Shawn Powers (SP is what she called him) were two peas in a pod. Her and Shawn would say, “That’s my cousin” (this is the clean version). Deanne and Shawn had a special bond that only they could understand. They would drive everyone crazy but they had a love and bond that only they understood. Neither one wanted to be wrong, and they couldn’t stay mad at each other very long. When they both got together it was hilarious. They were more like brother and sister than cousins. They definitely had each other’s back through everything.
A service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 27 at Covenant Funeral Service Fredericksburg.
