Diane Susan Roles

Diane Susan Roles, 76, of Spotsylvania passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Formerly of Front Royal, Diane moved to Stafford as a teenager and lived in the Stafford and Fredericksburg areas since. After 28 years of service, Diane retired from the Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers, in 2008.

Diane enjoyed playing Bingo, going to yard sales, playing cards and Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid animal lover and treated her dogs like her children.  Diane had several dogs over the years, but Heidi and Precious always held a special place in her heart.  

Survivors include her brother, Herbert Patterson of Front Royal; grandson Timothy de Ravin of Leesburg; granddaughter Christi Miles of Spotsylvania; great-grandsons Cameron Ketner and Lincoln Miles of Spotsylvania; step-daughters Laura Lazok (Gary) of Phoenix, AZ and Tina Jimenez of El Mirage, AZ; step-mother Ann Patterson of Front Royal; half-brother Mike Patterson (Rhonda) of Front Royal; half-sisters Carol Kresges (Brad), Nancy Moris (Larry), MaryAnn Weinand (Rick), and Bonnie Packett (Allen) of Front Royal; step-brothers Francis Tyson (Brenda) of King George and Gary Tyson (Beverly) of Stafford; and step-sister Gloria Hinkle of Stafford. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Fishel; son Vernon Roles, Jr.; father Clarence "Pat" Patterson; mother Blanche "Pat" Tyson; and step-father James "Jim" Tyson.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 27 at Oak Hill Cemetery.
