Dolores Reeves Sullivan, 87, of Fredericksburg, passed away from congestive heart failure on Thursday, February 6, 2020.
Dolores was born in Ashland, KY in 1932. She moved to the Washington, DC area in 1951 to work for the federal government where she worked for 36 years. Dolores first worked as a secretary for the Department of the Navy in Hyattsville, MD and later transferred to the Smithsonian, working at the Natural History building in the Paleontology Department. She met her second husband, Gladwyn “Tut” Sullivan while working at the Smithsonian, her first marriage to Jack R. Larkie ended in divorce. Dolores spent the last 33 years of her life in Fredericksburg.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Larkie Cranston (Ron); step-sons James Ronald Sullivan and Michael Sullivan (Nancy); and granddaughter Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gladwyn “Tut” Sullivan.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 12 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
