Donna Cloyd

Donna Cloyd, 71, of Fredericksburg passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Donna was born to Leroy and Alma October 16, 1949 in Culpeper. When she was 19 she enlisted in the Army, where she was stationed in New Mexico. Donna was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Moose Lodge and the Pistol Packing Ladies. She would do anything in the world for everyone she cared about and spent most of her time taking care of everyone else. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world; she would often take her grandchildren for weekend sleepovers where they would do crafts, bake, play games, and watch movies. She also attended church every Sunday at the Patawomeck Tribal Center. She had a one of a kind laugh that would separate her from a crowd that will be dearly missed. Lee, the love of her life, said that was one of the very first things that attracted him to her. Donna was also an organ donor, they were able to find a recipient that was gifted Donna's kidneys and liver, so for us, it's as if a piece of Donna still lives on in someone else and she left this world doing what she always had, helping someone else.

Survivors include her soulmate of 31 years, Lee Howdershelt; children Jeremy Cloyd (Jordan), Jessica Whittington; step-children Wendy Crawford (Matt), Bubba Howdershelt (Brandie), grandchildren Lee, Lily, Carter, Carleigh, Levi Taylor Jr., Erin, and Kamryn; and brother Leroy Luck Jr. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Luck Sr.; and mother Alma Mae Luck.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 14 at the funeral home. A reception will be held at a time to be determined at the Stafford Moose Lodge 2215, 422 Eskimo Hill Road, Stafford, VA 22554.
