Doris L Huffman

Doris L. Huffman, 94, of Fredericksburg, crossed over peacefully on Saturday, November 20 at home surrounded by her family. We lost our precious Nannie, but heaven gained another angel.

Doris was born and raised in Saltville, VA. She worked at Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institution before marrying her husband.

Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her sons – they were her pride and joy. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had an open door and an open heart to anyone who needed her.

Survivors include her sons Robert Huffman (Vickie), Eugene Huffman, and Jack Huffman. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Doane of Saltville, VA; sisters Gladys, Annie, Helen, Lillian, and Lula; brothers Eugene, Bill, Harold, and Oliver; son Frank Huffman; and her husband of 30 years, Herman F. Huffman Jr. We take comfort knowing she is now with her heavenly family.

The family would like to recognize Mary Washington Hospice for their loving care and making it possible to honor her final wishes.

A service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday November 24 at Covenant Funeral Service in Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm.
