Edward Sullivan

Edward “Tunny” Sullivan, 82, of Spotsylvania passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

Tunny was born on July 23, 1940 to the late Vernon and Bertha Sullivan. He graduated from James Monroe High School and was a standout on the baseball team. Tunny was a medic in the U.S. Air Force. Tunny married the love of his life, Judy, on January 11, 1969. He was an ironworker with Rodman Local 201 for over 40 years where he gained many friendships. He was a devoted father attending Scot and Dave’s games and Julie’s riding.  

Besides his family, Tunny loved spending time with his many friends. His greatest hobbies were fishing and hunting, where he could often be found in the woods after turkeys or on the lake after those bass. These skills were passed on to his kids and grandkids. He loved all his grandkids and always wanted to know what was going on in their lives. He loved their visits and stories. In his later years, there wasn’t a Nationals baseball game that was missed by him and Judy.

Tunny is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter Julie Leitch (Jason); and sons Scot Sullivan (Callie) and Dave Sullivan (Vanessa); Julie’s children, Carley and Jack; Scot’s children, Kate, Mason, Kyle, Brooke, and Madison; and Dave’s children, Jacqueline and Genevieve; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Vernell Sullivan; and brother-in-law Dennis Dodd.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Blankenship; and brother Kenneth Sullivan.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
