On July 28, 2021, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Elinor B. Brooks passed away at age 88, with her husband and son by her side.
She was born to the late Delbert and Nora L. Beach, December 19, 1932, in Hartwood, VA.
Elinor and her husband, Herman became acquaintances when she came aboard as a new hire at the Virginia Shoe Factory. After Herman served 4 years overseas with the Navy, they reconnected and were married in 1957. Elinor began her career as a beautician at Betty Anne Beauty Shop in Fredericksburg. She continued that passion well into her 70's taking care of family and longtime clients from the salon in her basement. She had a love for dancing and country music, especially Patsy Cline. She was voted "Best Square Dancer" in high school. Yearly family summer vacations taken with her mother and aunts, were moments she looked forward to. Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge and Nashville were favorites. She was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Herman R. Brooks; son, Michael (Kris); granddaughter Leland; her spoiled Border Collie, Luna; and a host of other loving relatives.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A private graveside service for family will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
