Elizabeth Ann Wack

July 5, 1959 ~ November 21, 2022 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Tribute

Elizabeth Ann Wack, born July 5th, 1959, to John M. and Judith Wack at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington D.C., died peacefully in Fredericksburg, VA on November 21st, 2022, her mother's birthday.

Liz attended Ashburton Elementary in Bethesda MD, St. Maurice School in Potomac Md, Woodward High School, in Bethesda, and took college courses at Montgomery College.
She held many jobs, primarily with Betco Block and Product in Bethesda where she was a clerical assistant, and at the FDA library in Rockville where she obtained Schedule A employment with the assistance of then Congresswoman Connie Morella.

She became a client of Target Community and Educational Services, which provided essential job coaching and support services, under the compassionate guidance of her dear friends Penelope "Poppy" Strickland and Brenda Krueger, among many.

In 2017, Liz became one of the full-time caretakers for her mother Judith, living at the family home until Judith's death in April, 2020.  At that time, Liz moved to Fredericksburg, VA to Spring Arbor Assisted Living, surrounded by many of her siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Liz loved family gatherings and was the family historian, able to recall at a moment's notice specific dates, times, and obscure details of any birthday, anniversary, or important family event.
Later in life, it was a continuing controversy as to who most ruled her heart, Donnie Osmond or Mark Hamill, both of whom were objects of her affections. Her love of sweets, her temper, and her stubborn will all were traits she proudly inherited from her parents, and shared with her siblings. In particular, she was her father’s daughter in her ability to transcend social norms of decorum and discretion with clear, concise, and usually painfully accurate observations and commentary: the Aunt Liz Truth Bomb. She was also a fiercely loyal and opinionated Democrat.

She is predeceased by her parents, John M. and Judith Ann Heffernan Wack.

She is survived by her siblings, Mary Frances (Randy Lagier), of Pullman, Washington, Daniel Christopher (Veronica Kelly), of Fredericksburg, Thomas Joseph (Ann Sears) of Fredericksburg, Catherine Marie (Stephen King), of Fredericksburg, Robert Paul (Lisa Wellner Wack) of Westminster MD, John Monroe (Penny Stevenson Wack) of Fredericksburg, and Edward Charles (Julie Oates Wack) of Waltham, MA; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews, Megan McHugh (Sean McHugh) of Atlanta, Thomas Lagier (Mary Elliott), Claudia Wack (Stephen Marsh), Jacqueline King, Sarah Wack, Margaret Wack, Bridget Wack, Miranda Wack, Michael Wack, Samantha King, Patrick Lagier, Mary Elizabeth Wack, Luke Wack, Jeffrey Wack, Caroline Wack, Naomi Louissaint, Finn Wack, Isaiah Louissaint, and Jake Wack.

Funeral services will be conducted at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, VA at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 5th, 2022.
