Ella Joann Hall

March 23, 1944 ~ April 20, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Ella Joann Hall, 78, of Spotsylvania, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, after suffering from a short illness.

Ella was born on March 23, 1944 to Alfred and Marion Poll in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ella graduated from Kelloggsville High School in 1962. On April 2, 1965, Ella met Roger Hall who would later become her husband. Ella and Roger went on to have two children, Michael Hall and Malisa Ridenour. Ella worked as police dispatcher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol before moving to Virginia where she retired from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles after 32 years of service.

In 2006, Ella retired and dedicated her time to her family and friends. Ella loved making her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the center of her life. She was the tie that bound the Hall family in every way and showed unconditional, unwavering love towards them with every breath. Ella loved picking fresh berries with her grandchildren, watching Wheel of Fortune, and spending endless family time by her backyard pool with family and friends. Ella was best known for her devotion to the varsity football team at Courtland High School. She enjoyed 40 years of Friday night football games firing the widely popular “Cougars Cannon” with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Hall; son Michael Hall and wife Victoria; daughter Malisa Hall Ridenour and husband Lee; siblings Marilyn Schipper, Jay Poll, and Ken and Jan Poll all of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren Tiffany Hall, Peyton Ridenour, and Devin Ridenour; great-grandchildren Arielle Hall and Grayson Hall; and father-in-law Daniel C. Hall of Fairfax, VA. Ella also has numerous, loved nieces and nephews who reside in the Grand Rapids area.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Marion Poll; granddaughter Miranda Leigh Ridenour; and niece Debra Kuiper.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29 at the funeral home chapel.
