Tribute

Ellen Hauschildt, 74 passed away on July 22, 2022.

Ellen was born May 11, 1948, to Ethel and John Olson. Ellen was born and raised on Long Island, New York and attended Seaford High School, where she was well liked and admired by her fellow students. Ellen was very active in high school; she was a cheerleader and student council member. In the summer of 1963, while in high school she met her husband, Richard. They were married immediately following Richard’s graduation from the Coast Guard Academy on June 8, 1968. Together they lived in many locations across the United States- FL, TX, NC, IL, AL, and VA. With her friendly, fun-loving, and caring nature, she developed enduring relationships in each location. They welcomed their son, Craig, in 1970 while in Pensacola, FL and then welcomed their daughter, Jill, in 1973 while in Houston, TX.

Ellen was proud of her career as a judge’s clerk at the Prince William County Circuit Court and developed many friendships during that time. Ellen retired in 2006 from the courts to be able to fully enjoy her family and grandchildren. Ellen was always present at family events, holidays, graduations, and ballgames. In between traveling for visits and doting on her grandchildren, Ellen had a passion for crafting and made very personal, beautiful handmade gifts and cards that everyone cherished. Ellen loved to travel the world and had countless adventures with Richard and friends. Up until her passing, she was always looking for what the next trip and/or visit would be.

To know Ellen was to love her. Even strangers would smile when they met her. Ellen was one of the kindest and most loving people that anyone could ever know. With her quick laugh and generous spirit, she created strong bonds and lifelong friendships which stood the test of time. Ellen also possessed an unmatched strength of character and will to overcome life's challenges. Although she faced many difficulties from childhood into adulthood, she described the last chapters of her life as “having everything she ever wanted” and was truly happy in every way.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Richard Hauschildt (76); son Craig Hauschildt (52); daughter Jill (Hauschildt) Parker (49); grandchildren Gracey Hauschildt (18), Nolan Parker (15) and Madelyn Parker (13). She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends who she loved dearly.

Ellen was embraced in heaven by her mother, Ethel Westby; father John Olson; stepfather John Westby; and sister Lois Strong.

Ellen, Mom, and Grandma - you have shaped us in all the right ways. We love more deeply, are stronger, and are more passionate because of your presence in our lives. We all gravitated to you not only because of who you were but how you made us all feel when we were with you. Your love and your soul live on in every way.
