Elmer "Ed" Clair, 75, of Spotsylvania County passed away on July 26th, 2021.
Ed was born in Alexandria, Virginia. He served in the United States Airforce as a medic, Ed went on to work for IBM, moving to Florida, where he and his wife adopted their first daughter, Wendy. Later, IBM moved his family to Arizona where they adopted their second daughter, Stacy. After a move to Virginia Ed left IBM and began a career as an Orbital Analyst for Naval Space Surveillance in Dahlgren, Virginia, where he met his best friend and business partner, Bee Stumpf.
Ed retired from Naval Space Surveillance and began working part-time at Bee's Stained Glass studio in Colonial Beach, Virginia. While Ed and Bee worked side-by-side teaching classes on glass-making, as well as repairing local church windows and metal framing, and private pieces, Ed's true talents shined in the intricate wire-wrapped jewelry he created. Sitting for hours at a time, Ed meticulously created one-of-a-kind pieces with a steady hand and unwavering attention to detail. While several pieces have been displayed for sale at Bee's Stained Glass, more than anything, Ed loved making jewelry for his friends and family that he gave away as gifts.
Ed was a quiet man who was always smiling. He loved Chevys and despised Fords. He prided himself on his Camaros SS-2 and his Avalanche truck. He also loved his grand-dogs and considered them family. Living with his daughter, Stacy and son-in-law, Rick, Ed welcomed and assisted with several pit bull rescue dogs over the years. His cell phone had countless photos of each pup that came into their lives.
Ed was many things but his most prized accomplishment was being a Father. Ed went above and beyond for his daughters and would tell anyone that would listen about each one and how amazing they were to him. Anyone that knew Ed was aware that his daughters were the most important thing in his life. He will be greatly missed.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Stacy Clair; son-in-law, Rick Jacobs; son-in-law, Robby Huskey; and grandson, Tyler Huskey. Ed is preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Huskey.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to your favorite animal charity or feel free to stop by Bee's Stained Glass and support local business.
