Frances Holladay Pulliam, aged 90, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 26, 2021.
She was born on February 5, 1931, in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania. Frances loved and accepted the gospel story of Jesus wholeheartedly, and centered her life around the faith it gave her. Her love for God fueled her deep love and loyalty to her family and friends, and spending time with them delighted her. She worked for thirty years for G&H Textile Mill, and retired later from Simmons Mattress Factory. Before her car accident in 1998, she loved yard work, gardening, canning, and feeding her birds.
She is survived by her brother, Farley Holladay (Margaret Ann); and sisters-in-law, Ruth Holladay, Phyllis Holladay Narehood, Barbara Holladay, and Jody Holladay Malyszek. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews in three generations; and a very special caregiver, Anita Christopher. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Farley Young Holladay, Sr, and Emma “Lucille” Beasley Holladay; her beloved husband, Joseph “Joe” Pulliam; her step-son, Doug Pulliam; five brothers Tavener, John, Thomas, Benny, and David Holladay; as well as two sisters-in-law, Martha and Chiyoko.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your local hospice chapter or Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue (Station #4) may be made in Frances’ name.
