Francis Joseph “Joe” VanDevender

Francis Joseph “Joe” VanDevender, 77, of Spotsylvania passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Mary Washington Hospital.

He was a beloved husband and father, and a friend to many. He retired from Frito Lay after 40+ years. He enjoyed auctions, collecting, yard sales, and was a member of the Chancellor Ruritan Club.

Survivors include his daughter, Frances McLaughlin; brothers James VanDevender and French VanDevender (Susan); sister-in-law Texie VanDevender; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy VanDevender.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour to the service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chancellor Ruritan Club or the Fredericksburg SPCA.
