George Eugene Barrett

George Eugene Barrett, 70, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019,  at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, VA. George was born on August 22 in Fredericksburg, VA; the son of Harvey H. and Bertha (Shultz) Barrett.

George proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years and then a prison guard at Lorton to when he retired. He married the love of his life, Susan (Teter) Barrett in 1976. George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed volunteering each year during deer hunting season at Caledon State Park in King George County, VA.  George enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Crystal Branish (Bobby)  and son Gene Barrett (Lisa); his granddaughters Katie Morgan, Brittany Weeks, and Summer Weeks; grandsons Mason Barrett, Bret Barrett, and Damion Marders; five great-grandchildren; brother Edward Barrett; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Barrett and his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 19 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fredericksburg, VA.
