Gloria Jean “Dinky” Carrington

Gloria Jean “Dinky” Carrington passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 20, 2023 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Melvin Heflin.

Gloria was born on November 18, 1943 to the late Theodore Roosevelt Garner and Mary Anderson Howard Garner.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa Rae Heflin, Wendi Kay Covington, and Sherry Jean Carrington; her grandchildren, April Thomas, Chelsea Sorrell, who was her caregiver, Casey Carrington, Samantha Carrington, and Steven Carrington; great-grandchildren Kalynn, Jahden, and Maddex Jenkins, Gavyn Thomas, and Aiden Carrington; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, James Garner, Theodore Roosevelt Garner, Jr., Alvin Thomas Garner, Betsy Ann Johnson and John Garner; and her precious children, Tracy Rene “Sally” Baker and Anthony Freeman “Pete” Carrington.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Gloria’s memory.
