Harris W. Brooks

Harris W. Brooks, 95, of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2022 to be with his Heavenly Father.

Harris proudly served his country in WWII. He was a Morris code operator and worked on military aircrafts. He worked and retired from FMC Plant and also retired from the U.S. Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Harris was a man of God and he loved his family.

Survivors include his children Lamont Brooks (Kathy), Wanda Stephens (Donnie), and Sandra Duval (George); seven grandchildren Shane Brooks, Elijah Brooks, Wendy Eller, Christopher Chase, Amy Powell, Margaret Nestor, and Mark Haynes; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen P. Brooks; daughter Judith “Judy” Haynes; and great-grandson Jeffrey Gibson.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
