Horace Earl "Honka" Cooper

Horace Earl "Honka" Cooper, 77, of Stafford County passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021.  Mr. Cooper began his apprenticeship and worked as an electrician at John Hancock Electric in Fredericksburg for 30 years. From there he continued on his career path at Harold's Electric, Inc. for over 20 years.  He retired with over 50 years of work experience as an electrician. 

Horace was a tribal member of the Patawomeck Indians of Virginia and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4123.  He enjoyed spending time with family.  He never met a stranger.  Horace was always an early riser, but was never in a rush.  He enjoyed morning coffee and scratching lottery tickets.  During retirement Horace was always busy.  He frequently visited family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Earl "Russ" Cooper (Laura); daughter Sherry Strong (Chip); brother Gary Cooper (Julie); two sisters Katherine Payne (Abby) and Patricia Holmes (Rodger); four grandchildren Ryan (Maria), Chad, Nicholas, and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Phyllis W. Cooper; his parents, Mary Blanche R. and Theodore Cooper; three brothers Eugene "Spider" Cooper, Harry Cooper, and George "Shorty" Cooper; and a sister, Edna Chinault.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
