Irma Ethel Tibbetts

March 15, 1931 ~ March 18, 2020 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Tribute

Ms. Irma Ethel Tibbetts transitioned peacefully on March 18, 2020 at Falls Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Irma was born in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America to Jacques and Elize Abrahams. She was the 4th of nine children. Talented beyond her high school education, she was a polished vocalist, and was known throughout Suriname for her performance as the Countess Viktoria in the operetta, “Viktoria und ihr Husar.”

Irma married a Hungarian Gentleman, Odilo Louis Wix, in 1956, and the couple immigrated to the United States. They raised their family in Columbia Station, Ohio. After Odilo, she married twice more before settling down as a single lady in Florida.

Irma loved to dance, paint, and play her organ, and enjoyed sharing her knowledge as often as possible. She smiled when children were nearby and loved guests. Before meals, she always paused to join hands, smile, and say, “Thank you for the Company.”

Those left to cherish Irma’s memory include her daughter Ilona; her daughter and son-in-law, Rose-Ann and Mike; her beloved grandson, Philip; her sisters, Madzy, Yvonne, and Lygia; her brother, Carlho; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by four brothers -- Otto, Arnold, Andre’ and Henk.

Irma was loved and will be missed.

“Thank you for the Company!”
