James Lewis Seay, 82, of Stafford County passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1940, to the late Auston and Bertha Seay. James was raised by his late aunt, Sadie Rodgers of Stafford County.
James was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church, Fredericksburg Jaycees, Fredericksburg Rescue Squad Support Group, Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair Board, Fredericksburg Lions Club, and the Fredericksburg Soap Box Derby. As a young man, he played baseball, softball, and basketball. James had a long and successful career in sales at both the Freeman Beverage Company and Rosner Motors.
He enjoyed many activities and traveling (most of all to Virginia Beach) with his wife, Mary Ann. James also enjoyed travels to Alaska, Hawaii, France, England, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. One of his happiest times was helping his neighbor and good friend build his family home. He spoke of this often.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Seay; children Marc Seay (Lisa), Kadie Smith (David), and Bonnie McLeod (Tim); five grandchildren, Brian Seay (Laura), David Seay (Jessica), Ryan Smith (Hope), Erin Creel (Tyler), and Austin Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Brayden, Lily Beth, Olivia, Carter, Brady, Jax, Grayson, Charlotte, Ben, and Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Auston and Bertha Seay; and aunt Sadie Rodgers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27 at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
