Jamie A. Cox, Sr.

Jamie A. Cox, Sr., 88, of Spotsylvania, Virginia passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. 

Jamie was born and raised in Pound, Virginia, where he always called "home." He moved to Northern Virginia, where he would meet and fall in love with the love his life, Janice. Jamie retired from Safeway and spent his retirement enjoying fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Most of all, he loved serving the Lord. 

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Janice (née Noakes); their three sons, Jamie, Jr. (Karen), Robert (Regina), and Kevin (Eileen); six grandchildren Shane Cox, Nick Cox, Ashley Cox, Katina Martin (Chad), Minnie Barnes (Ricky), and Cory Taylor (Amber); seven great-grandchildren; siblings Lutty Mullins (Bill), Lardy Osborne, and Gail Thompson (Bobby); and numerous nephews and nieces. He was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alfred Cox and Minnie Ann (née Edwards); brothers Avis Cox and Franklin Cox; and sisters Irene Wright, Willadean Ingram, and Janice Grant. 

A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. The family will host a reception at Temple Baptist Church (300 White Oak Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405).
