Janice Williams Hixson

Janice Williams Hixson of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on September 9th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. 

Janice was born August 11, 1950 in Newport News, VA. She attended Newport News High School and was married in January of 1971 to James “Jimmy” Hixson, the love of her life. They were married for over 50 years, celebrating their Golden Anniversary in January 2021.

She was a sweet and gentle soul who loved her family fiercely and desired nothing more from life than spending time with them. She was the best “Gran” to all who knew her and the very definition of the “Perfect Mother” who loved everyone unconditionally without end. To know her, was to love her.  She worked proudly for 22 years at Linens-N-Things and made many great friends along the way. As a long-time member of Orcutt Baptist Church in Newport News, VA, she loved the Lord and had a strong relationship with him. Knowing that she is now walking pain free alongside Jesus is beautiful. Her life was one to be proud of, leaving behind everything she ever dreamt of. Her legacy will live on through her family as it grows, she will always be with us as we keep her memories alive and close to our hearts.

She is survived by her children Lisa (John), Susan (Cary), Kelly (Roger); stepdaughter Kimberly; her grandchildren, Kevin (Shannon), Baylee (Andrew), Brady, Joel, Steve, Brittany, Tori, Grant, and Brandy; her great-grandchildren, Jason, Capri, and Cooper; her siblings Linda Gail, Brenda, and Sonny (Sharon); along with many in-laws, nieces, and nephews, all of whom were very dear to her heart. She is reunited in death with her mother, Esther Williams; her father, Aubrey Williams; her sister, Joyce Mingee; mother-in-law, Alice Hixson; and father-in-law, Jakie Hixson, who are rejoicing in Heaven to see her again.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15 at Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22408, followed by a reception at the family’s home.
