Jean Cook Karpovich

Jean Cook Karpovich, 74, of Fredericksburg, passed away on June 6, 2021, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born as the oldest twin to Marshall H. Cook and Katherine Sheehan Cook on February 23, 1947 at Garfield Hospital in Washington D.C. Jean graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1964 and from Petersburg General Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. In 1969, Jean joined the D.C. Police Department as a Narcotics Detective and served until 1974. Jean continued serving others as a Registered Nurse and retired from Mt. Vernon Hospital in September 2011. She was a 21 year member in standing of the Daughters of the Revolution and loved playing bridge.

She is survived by her twin sister Joan L. Cook; brother Marshall E. Cook (Jan); niece Bradley Cook Kopelove (Ivan); nephew Marshall A. Cook; step-daughter Carla Karpovich; step-son Richie Karpovich; step-grandson Kyle Karpovich (Meagan); step-granddaughters Shaina Karpovich,Blair Karpovich, Brooke Karpovich, Brandy Karpovich Lyall (Nathaniel); great-niece Virginia Kopelove; and great-nephew Hawkins Kopelove; and three step-great-grandchildren.
