Jeanette (Heflin) Loving

June 30, 1924 ~ January 22, 2023 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Tribute

Jeanette Heflin Loving, 98, went home to be with the Lord and previously deceased family members on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at her home surrounded by beloved family.

Jeanette’s passion was the love of her family. Her family was her world. Jeanette was known as BIG GRANDMA by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren (for more details see the Rice boys). She was a seamstress for Arthur Murray Dance School, JJ Newberry – it was here that her oldest son, Harvey Edward Loving, Jr., got his nickname “Snookie” – and G&H Pants Factory in Fredericksburg on Jackson and Monroe Streets. Later, Jeanette worked as a government contractor for Mel-Par in Northern Virginia. The longest running job of her life was with Fairfax County Department of Transportation as a valued and loved school bus driver with 35-years of service. After retiring, she continued to work until the age of 93 at Costco, Wal-Mart, and Hancock Fabric.

Jeanette was always a mother to every child she came in touch with.  Her goal was to make sure both boys and girls knew how to cook, clean, sew, and be self-supportive. Her famous quote was “If there is a will there is a way, never accept ‘no’.”

She is survived by her only daughter, Carol A. Rice; son Dwayne E. Loving (Kimberly L.); grandchildren Scott Rice, Greg Rice (Debbie), Matthew Loving, Amanda Loving, Dion Ray Loving (Wendy), Renea Morris, Shane Loving (Tammy), Kari Loving, and Nicholas Loving; great-grandchildren Cody Rice, Nicole “Nikki” Rice, Devon Rice, Lillian Loving, Jessica Ryan, Katlyn Loving, Blaine Loving, Amanda Huffman, Waylon Loving, Amy Huffman, and James “Jim Bob” Morris; great-great-grandchildren Sophie, Piercen, Logan, Brayden, Cameron, Haleigh, Kailynn, Hunter, Lexi, Kylie and Jayme; and one sister, Annie “Jaci” Wible.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Thaddeous M. Heflin, Sr. and Hattie Talley Heflin; brothers Thaddeous M. Heflin, Jr., Loy Arnold Heflin, and Gordan Heflin; sisters Margaret “Peggy” Giddings and Lois Grigsby; husband Harvey Loving, Sr.; and sons Harvey Edward Loving, Jr. “Snookie” and Vince Otis Loving.

A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Mount Comfort Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. at the Great American Buffet (1780 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Children’s Hospital Foundation, or Ronald McDonald House in honor of her great-great-grandson, Piercen.
